A little after 3pm on Tuesday September 18, Dan White, the British photojournalist and writer, started complaining of a severe headache. Twenty minutes later the underlying cause, a massive cerebral haemorrhage, would render him unconscious. The internal bleeding was so severe that he slipped quietly into a coma from which he would never awake.
